PR Guru Larry Weber and Sun Microsystems President & COO Jonathan Schwartz to Keynote
IDG World Expo, the leading producer of world-class tradeshows, conferences and events for technology markets, today announced the keynotes and featured speakers for Syndicate™, scheduled to take place December 12-14, 2005 at the Hilton San Francisco. PR guru Larry Weber, Chairman and CEO of W2 Group, and Jonathan Schwartz, President and COO of Sun Microsystems, will deliver the keynote addresses. Joining them as featured speakers are industry leaders from Dow Jones, Microsoft and HP, as well as Jeremy Allaire and Doc Searls.
Following an exciting and successful inaugural event in New York City in May 2005, the West coast version of Syndicate, the premier event for content syndication trends, will discuss the tools and strategies used to allow online media and content to be searched, found, followed and subscribed to all within minutes of when it is published or broadcasted. It will discuss how this will transform business and revenue models for media, publishing, marketing, product/brand management, advertising, public relations and associated industries.
Larry Weber, well known for applying innovation and technology to advance the marketing craft, started technology PR agency Weber Group as well as Weber Shandwick. In his keynote address titled, "The Rise of Unpaid Media," Weber will discuss the shift to using unpaid media – by creating compelling content on blogs and micro sites people want to get via RSS. He will explain why the dominance of advertising and direct marketing is officially over and why unpaid media will be more important than advertising in the future budgets of companies.
"We need to let the consumer consume on their terms," said Weber. "Build an online community of cancer survivors who spend hours together because it comforts them. No ads, just awareness that a brand makes it possible. Is this content syndication? Absolutely. Is there opportunity for highly targeted, extremely viral influence? You bet."
"A Conversation with Jonathan Schwartz," will be sponsored by Yahoo!, and it will be an informal interview and discussion with the President and COO of Sun Microsystems. Doc Searls, Co-Author of The Cluetrain Manifesto; Senior Editor, Linux Journal; and Syndicāte Conference Chairperson, will conduct the on-stage interview.
Other featured speakers at the event include: * Jessica Perry, Senior VP, Business Development & Marketing, Dow Jones Consumer Electronic Publishing * Jeremy Allaire, Chairman and CEO, Brightcove * Scott Anderson, Director, Enterprise Brand Communications, HP * Dean Hachamovitch, General Manager, Internet Explorer, Microsoft Corp. * Doc Searls, Co-Author of "The Cluetrain Manifesto" and Senior Editor, Linux Journal. |
