The New York Russian Club Hosts Reception at the Russian Consulate for U.S. and Russian Banking

Within the framework of ongoing annual meetings between U.S. and Russian business leaders, the New York Russian Club hosted an informal reception at the Consulate General of the Russian Federation in New York on Tuesday, April 17, 2007.

The reception brought together eminent members of the Russian and American banking communities and top representatives of the U.S. legal profession with the support of RenCap Securities and the Salans international law firm.

We very much look forward to working with the New York Russian Club in this venture.
This event illustrates the history and depth of the relationship between the two countries, which the New York Russian Club has been promoting since it was founded. The agenda included presentations by the sponsors, informal discussions, an entertainment program, and an exhibition of contemporary Russian art presented by the Kolodzei Art Foundation.

“We are very excited about the progress we made since establishing the New York Russian Club,” said Michael Solton, a Club board member. “The idea behind it was to unite those who are interested in encouraging and supporting business relations between Russia and USA. The scope of our activities over the past few years has broadened significantly, and we are pleased to acknowledge that the growing public interest in exploring business opportunities in Russia and the U.S. has gradually influenced a shift in the Club’s earlier emphasis on recreational and cultural events. We have turned to events that attract involvement by the wider business community. We look forward to taking the Club’s activities to the next level and continuing to offer its members excellent networking opportunities.”

The New York Russian Club has partnered with RenCap Securities and Salans to allow attendees to take advantage of their unparalleled expertise in technical aspects of entering Russian markets. RenCap Securities is a part of Renaissance Capital, the leading independent investment banking firm operating in Russia and the CIS. It is focused on both agency and principal investor activities. Salans is an international law firm that has advised blue-chip multinational organizations on a full spectrum of business and legal issues for more than 25 years. Salans, noted for expertise in developing markets, has worked closely with clients in the CIS, and Central and Eastern Europe since the 1970s.

“We are particularly pleased that this reception is held in the year that marks 200 years of U.S. - Russia diplomatic relations,” said Sergey V. Garmonin, Consul General of the Russian Federation in New York. “We look forward to providing an opportunity for leaders of Russian and U.S. banking communities to meet and interact in an informal setting. We do hope that events like this will make navigating Russian financial markets smooth sailing for business professionals from both countries. And we would like to thank the New York Russian Club for organizing the reception.”

“This is a great opportunity for networking and establishing closer business relationships between the U.S. and Russia,” said Randy Bregman of the Salans law firm. “We very much look forward to working with the New York Russian Club in this venture.”
