New book provides real-life answers about how to survive in today’s economy by starting a business from home. In this practical guide, Jennifer Bonoff details how she built her own successful Internet business from home, and teaches how to duplicate her success.
Making ends meet and securing a future is a scary proposition in a world without job security or guaranteed retirement plans. For many, the dream of “having it all” has been replaced with the hope of just getting by. Jennifer Bonoff’s life took a different path after she graduated from college as she followed her dream of self-employment.
At the age of 24, with no experience or capital to invest, Jennifer Bonoff started an Internet-based business from home which earned six figures in the first year. She was on track to double that when she sold her business to a private investor after 18 months. She now operates multiple successful home-based Internet businesses, and has just published her first book. Bonoff’s new book, “Zero To Six Figures,” details her own story and walks readers step-by-step through the obstacles of starting a successful business from home. Designed to help people who want to improve their lives by starting a home-based Internet business, "Zero To Six Figures" details the process of conceiving, setting up and operating a business that sells products or services to a targeted market on the Internet - all on a shoestring budget.
Where did it all begin?
When asked how she ended up running successful online businesses from home, Jennifer says, “As far back as I can remember, I had a feeling inside me that drove me to choose a different path. I didn’t want my life to be ordinary, but rather exhilarating and fresh.
“After graduating from Yale, my family thought I was crazy for not even looking for a job. I didn’t put together a resume or write a cover letter. Imagine the shock – over $130,000 for an Ivy-League education, and I certainly didn’t appear to be headed down the “right” path. But I had other plans. I wasn’t sure exactly what they were, but I was certain it was not going to include working at a nine-to-five job.”
Having no extraordinary computer skills or Internet marketing experience didn’t deter her. Jennifer taught herself how to create basic websites and at the age of 24, started her own Internet business from home.
"I was not rich when I started my business. I was just out of college with little more than a credit card and a dream. I began my business from scratch, and at that time, I had no special training that allowed me to succeed where others would have failed."
When asked what problems face potential entrepreneurs, Bonoff says, “The largest obstacle preventing most people from starting a successful home-based business on the Internet is fear of the unknown. Oftentimes, just getting a few simple questions answered is enough to eliminate that fear, and open up a world of opportunity.”
When Bonoff started her first business on the Internet, she quickly realized there was no place to get all her “how-to” questions answered. She says, “While trying to navigate through a minefield of Internet technology, I ran into one roadblock after another. Every day, I wished there was a simple resource that I could turn to for guidance. The struggles I faced and the hurdles I had to overcome on my own provided me with the inspiration for my book, Zero To Six Figures.”
