New "How to Do It" Travel Book Targets Small Business and Independent Professionals now Available

Ed Perkins' new book for small business covers basic travel strategies; how to choose airlines, hotels, car rental companies, charge cards, and other travel services; and how to locate the best suppliers.

Business Travel When It’s Your Money" is now available! Ed Perkins’ latest book is the first “how to do it” guide specifically written for small business and self-employed independent professional travelers.

The 268-page volume starts with a review of basic strategy considerations, including travel objectives and policies. Subsequent chapters deal with individual travel components—air travel, hotel accommodations, rental cars, other ground transport, and charge cards—with a hard look at suppliers, the ways they operate, and the pricing games they play. The final chapters deal with managed travel, an extensive compilation (with URLs and phone numbers) of some 350 primary suppliers and agencies, with special emphasis on discounters, and the more useful ongoing information sources for business travel, online and offline.

In his book, Ed pulls no punches and curries no favors. He highlights the good values and warns away from the bad deals and semi-scams that travelers all too frequently encounter.

Ed’s business travel venture is in collaboration with the new website, www.mybusinesstravel.com. His book is now available for sale through that website, with broader distribution pending.

Ed is a nationally-syndicated travel columnist, appearing in some three dozen US newspapers. His previous books include Online Travel, for Microsoft Press, and (as co-author) the annual Travel Buying Guides for Consumers Union. He was founding editor of Consumer Reports Travel Letter.

(In case you were wondering, St Menas is the patron saint of traveling merchants.)
