DHL Signs 3-Year Contract with Saudi Aramco Shell Refinery to Provide Integrated Logistics Services

About DHL: DHL is the world's leading express and logistics company offering customers innovative and customized solutions from a single source. With global expertise in solutions, express, air and ocean freight and overland transport, DHL combines worldwide coverage with an in-depth understanding of local markets. DHL's harmonized international network links more than 220 countries and territories worldwide. DHL continues to be at the forefront of technology and, with over 170,000 dedicated employees, guarantees fast and reliable services aimed at exceeding customers' expectations. Based in Brussels, Belgium, DHL is 100% owned by Deutsche Post World Net.

Saudi Aramco Shell Refinery in Jubail (SASREF) has awarded DHL, the world’s leading express and logistics company, an exclusive three year contract for the provision of fully integrated logistics services.

“Our association with Aramco goes back more than 20 years and we are very happy to be continuing our working relationship through this latest contract for their joint venture with Shell,” said Faysal Elhajjami, DHL National Commercial Manager. “The contract award is a mark of recognition of the quality of our previous performance, and with our established presence and long experience in the Saudi market, coupled with our expanded global capabilities as a member of Deutsche Post World Net. we have all the components in place to put the full range of DHL’s international express and logistics expertise at the service of this highly important customer.”

Under the terms of the contract a DHL representative is based at SASREF with full responsibility for processing all of the refinery’s purchase orders, monitoring the purchase process, tracking transportation and registering receipt of orders. He is also responsible for preparation and processing of all import/export carrier documents for land, sea and air shipments, and provision of all documents and services to facilitate clearance at Saudi Customs. In addition, the DHL representative processes all documents for customs duties refunds, import licenses, exemption certificates, and permits. He also inputs data into the SASREF system (SAP).

For big shipments by sea, the DHL representative liaises with NAMMA Cargo Services Company. NAMMA is the KSA exclusive agent for the global freight forwarder previously known as Danzas now operating under the DHL brand name outside the GCC as part of Deutsche Post world Net.

SASREF is a joint venture between Saudi Aramco and Shell. Established in 1980 it is one of the 15 largest refineries in the world with an output of more than 300,000 barrels a day. Ninety per cent of production is exported, the remaining 10% being for local consumption.

DHL has more than 25 years operational experience in Saudi Arabia and was the first multinational express and logistics company to establish a presence in the Kingdom. The company has become an integral part of the Saudi business community and remains committed to fulfilling its role as industry leader.
