Frank F. Lunn has pledged $1 million dollars to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital after his son's successful battle with leukemia. Lunn plans to donate the $1 million through the proceeds of his new book Stack the Logs! with a foreword by Mark Victor Hansen.
Ten-year-old Frankie Lunn is a leukemia survivor and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital success story. His father, Frank, is an entrepreneur and author of Stack The Logs!TM, a book he penned while Frankie was undergoing his treatment at St. Jude. The entire Lunn family was transformed by their St. Jude experience and when young Frankie went back to school, Frankie’s dad went to work to realign his business with St. Jude.
Lunn, a Central Illinois business owner along with his three business partners, recently toured St. Jude and made a commitment to initially raise one million dollars through a percentage of the proceeds from his soon-to-be-released book and a tithe from all revenue in their recently created Empowerment Division. Lunn, President of Kahuna Business Group, Bloomington, wrote Stack the Logs! Building a Success Framework to Reach Your Dreams during a six-month sabbatical from his business while his son, Frankie, battled leukemia (a cancer of the bone marrow and blood) at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Frankie was diagnosed with cancer on March 28, 2002. He was 8 years old at the time. Ironically, Frank’s father died from a similar form of cancer four years earlier. Frankie’s cancer is in remission and today he is a happy, active 10-year-old.
Stack the Logs! is based on advice Frank’s father penned to him in a birthday card in 1997. The card was meant to encourage Frank in business and in his personal life.
“In a quick note on a birthday card, my father gifted me a seven-part blue print for a successful life. No magic and no shortcuts. There is wisdom within simplicity and a roadmap to success. I am excited to share this discovery and journey together,” said Lunn.
The book covers the essentials of the Stack the Logs! ™ premise including:
•planning well
•keeping an excellent forward thrust to objective
•dealing with disappointments and setbacks
•creating a positive support structure
•staying positive and focused
•maintaining moral character
•continuing to “Stack the Logs!”™
The book also reveals the number one reason people fail and how to overcome it.
Lunn’s decision to tithe 10 percent of proceeds from the book to the continuing work of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital was an easy one. “You saved the life of our son and showed us a face of compassion combined with a purpose for continuing the mission started by Danny Thomas more than 40 years ago. Danny’s dream that you all carry out on a daily basis could not be more personal for me or our family,” writes Lunn in a special acknowledgement to St. Jude at the beginning of the book. “The wonderful success stories and the incredible improvements made by St. Jude in the last 40 plus years are some of the best practical examples of Stack the Logs! and are exemplary demonstrations of the basic theme of this book,” he writes.
St Jude Children's Research Hospital is internationally recognized for its pioneering work in finding cures and saving children with cancer and other catastrophic diseases. Founded by the late entertainer Danny Thomas and based in Memphis, Tennessee, St. Jude freely shares its discoveries with scientific and medical communities around the world. No family ever pays for treatments not covered by insurance, and families without insurance are never asked to pay. St Jude is financially supported by ALSAC, its fundraising organization.
