Kingdom Financial Principles Offers New Military Personnel Advice about Debt and Steering Clear of

Gene Jolley, President of Kingdom Financial Principles (KFP) and creator of the Rapid Debt Reducer software, knows the toll debt can have on an individual. Debt causes all sorts of stresses that inhibit a good quality of life and young people are especially susceptible to the lure of easy credit. Jolley, who has served in the military himself, exhibits empathy for those new men and women now serving their country.

They are giving so much already is Jolley’s message; they shouldn’t come out indebted to, what Jolley calls, “Predators” who ignore the code of ethics and target the bulls eye of a young market.

KFP is dedicated to helping individuals and families live debt free. Jolley understands that to achieve this goal the consumer must be kept informed of the realities surrounding money management and through his website and seminars he is doing just that. Jolley also understands the lure of easy credit especially when it comes to individuals or families just getting started and there are plenty of these in the military.

What concerns Jolley about these service men and women is they are being targeted by those who know their vulnerabilities. Many of them are young and for the first time on their own. The restraint of living under parents rules has been lifted and with that freedom comes a new responsibility. There is a psychological vulnerability in those leaving the nest, whether it is for college or the military, and there are plenty of companies who want to exploit it.

Jolley states “Senior enlisted have gotten out of the service” and adds “are good sales people”, working for “credit companies that market insurances, loans, etc.” For many young adults who find themselves on their own for the first time there is an uneasy feeling of being lost or feeling insecure and as Jolley put it; “An older person [former senior enlisted can relate and be a source of comfort for them.” These sales people know the ropes of military life and are at an advantage over young recruits—they know how to relate because they understand both the vernacular and the emotions young recruits find themselves in.

Jolley’s advice to young recruits includes:
·    Avoid rent to own, high interest credit on furniture, payday loan sharks
·    Do business with the base credit union — they will give the best rates and not allow the member to become overextended
·    Use the services on base—recreational facilities, bowling, movies, rental equipment
·    Frequent the used store to get better buys on donated items
