Cook is a successful entrepreneur, public speaker and author. What people may not know is that Sunny Cook is also an exceptionally compassionate human being. It is for this that Hexagon Blue, a Seattle area publisher, has selected Cook as the inaugural recipient of their individual “doing positive™” award.

“I’m thrilled to receive this award,” beamed Cook. “I never expected to be honored for fulfilling my responsibility to society and those less fortunate than myself. The doing positive™ award holds special significance to me because it honors the unsung heroes who make our communities more livable for all of us.”

Inspired by her parents to achieve great things, Sunny donates book profits and speaking fees to the Kobe Foundation, which has sponsored numerous charitable and educational activities like camp for at-risk youths and artistic productions for homeless children.

Cook is best known for her regular television appearances throughout the 1990s as the television spokesperson and CEO of successful mattress company, Sleep Country USA. She was named Inc. Magazine's Northwest Woman Entrepreneur of the Year along with numerous other business and corporate good citizen awards.

Cook began her career as a secretary, but through determination, eventually became a highly successful CEO. She displays her positive attitude and outlines her empowering management techniques in her book aimed at helping managers and leaders, “Common Things Uncommon Ways.”

“Sunny Kobe Cook epitomizes the doing positive™ award recipient,” said Mary Jesse, president of Hexagon Blue. “She is a positive, caring leader who spends much of her time and money giving to others. She has a passion for life and has made a positive difference in thousands of lives. Sunny proves that a single individual can have a dramatic and positive impact in this world.”

The “doing positive™” award was developed to reward individuals, companies and products for positive contributions to the community. The award serves to raise the public’s awareness of socially responsible individuals, companies and products.

“We believe people will choose to support positive companies and products,” Jesse explained. “We hope to encourage companies and individuals to keep up the good work and to inspire others to behave in a similar manner.”

Nominations for the “doing positive™” award can be submitted by visiting the Hexagon Blue website:
